Former Notre Dame QB Golson Visiting Athens

ATHENS - Georgia will host former Notre Dame QB Everett Golson on Wednesday.

Dean Legge spoke with Scout before breaking the news that Golson would be in Athens on Wednesday.

That’s according to a source and backs up reporting by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that said that Golson would visit Georgia “likely this week.”

But a marriage between Golson and the Bulldogs still seems unlikely according to numerous insiders. He still seems headed for Florida State in what one insider described as “a done deal for months.” The Bulldogs also seem happy with their current quarterback situation, which is a battle between sophomore Brice Ramsey and junior Faton Bauta. Ramsey is seen as the front runner by most insiders.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher met with Golson on Monday, according to ESPN and the Palm Beach Post - saying that Golson is “a great young man really enjoyed meeting with him.”

The most interesting thing Fisher told those outlets was: "We're negotiating. We never (promise) a guy he'll be the starter."

Golson's visit to Georgia is the third confirmed visit he has made. Aside from Georgia and Florida State, Golson has also visited Florida, according to Sports Illustrated.
