This is a big one for the Dawgs.
Charlie Woerner's commitment on Thursday wasn’t totally unexpected, but to know for sure what a prospect is thinking when he’s been so shy about talking about anything is a gamble.
Woerner’s commitment to Goeriga over the likes of Alabama and Clemson really helps the Dawgs on the offensive side of the ball. Georgia needs receivers, and it seems like that’s what Woerner will be playing. But he might be a hybrid receiver and tight end.
I do know that Georgia’s staff is in love with his playmaking ability. “Some players are just more gifted than others,” one insider said of the Georgia legacy.
Having watched Woerner at camp over the last two summers it is hard to ignore just how well he can catch the ball in traffic. Rarely does a ball go his way that he fails to catch. He’s going to be a weapon in near the end zone. If the term “possession” receiver applies to anyone it is Woerner.
But that might take away from giving his due athletically. He can leap and run with the best of them. He’s just a little more subdued in doing so.
