UGA LB Detric Bing-Dukes to Transfer

ATHENS - Redshirt freshman Detric Bing-Dukes is transferring, the school announced Saturday.

A day after Georgia inside linebackers coach Mike Ekeler talked up how deep the Bulldogs were at the position came word that one of the players with an uphill climb to get playing time is leaving.

The 6-foot, 230-pound Tucker High product also spent time at fullback last season before moving back to inside linebacker.

“His heart’s at linebacker and I really respect this kid,” Richt said. “He really does love Georgia. He was very kind of sad to leave, but he loves football, too. He loves to play. He just felt like he might have a better opportunity elsewhere.”

Richt likened the move to his son Jon, a quarterback who transferred from Clemson to Division II Mars Hill. He became a four year starter and enjoyed his experience.

“I wish the same for Detric,” Richt said.
