UGA Missing Linebackers

ATHENS - Linebacker is one of Georgia’s most stocked positions but the Bulldogs practiced Tuesday without a few key players.

Leonard Floyd, who can line up at outside linebacker, inside linebacker or at the star, was absent in the morning practice. So was first-team inside linebacker Tim Kimbrough. Outside linebacker Davin Bellamy wore a cast on his right hand and didn’t practice.

“Be back soon, nothing major,” tweeted Bellamy, a redshirt sophomore.

Floyd missed spring practices after shoulder surgery. Outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins said he was with him on Monday night and indicated he may not be injured.

“He’s fine as ever,” Jenkins said. “Just doing some little checkups. I don’t know what it’s for. It might be (the shoulder). I don’t know for sure.”

Georgia didn’t provide any injury information on Tuesday so players were asked about teammates like Kimbrough.

“He’s doing all right, just trying to get back,” fellow inside linebacker Ryne Rankin said.

Said Jake Ganus, another inside linebacker: “Tim’s fine, I’m not allowed to comment on where he was at.”

Georgia held a second practice Tuesday night that was closed to the media.

Meanwhile, freshman offensive lineman Mirko Jurkovic, who had signed initially with Ohio State, appears likely to miss extended time after undergoing unspecified surgery. He was already a redshirt candidate.

“Surgery was a success,” he tweeted. “Blessed to have the best physicians, staff and teammates to get me back on my feet!”
