UGA Searching for Answers at Fullback

ATHENS - Injuries at fullback left Georgia with a pair of walk-ons as the top two players at the position on Monday.

Quayvon Hicks wasn’t seen at practice on Monday. The position already is without first-teamer Christian Payne (crack in fibula), expected to be out several weeks.

Walk-on inside linebacker Nick Moore, the former minor league baseball player, was working at No. 2 fullback Monday. He played the position at Brookwood High and “didn’t look too out of place,” at his first practice there at Georgia.

“I think he’s excited about the possible opportunity,” Brian Schottenheimer said. “He wouldn’t be the first linebacker to come over and be a pretty good fullback. Those fullbacks are a different breed. The things you ask them to do, not everybody gets excited about doing that.”

The top fullback on Monday was freshman walk-on Turner Fortin, a 6-foot-1, 230-pounder from Northview High.
