Williams Moving up at WR for UGA

ATHENS - Georgia coach Mark Richt said last week that Georgia had five wide receivers that he thought were game-ready.

He didn’t identify who those five were, but sophomore Shakenneth Williams figures he still has work to do to be included in that bunch.

“I think I still need to show him some stuff that I can work on, showing that I can earn his trust out there on the field,” said Williams, who had three catches for 61 yards in five games last season. “That’s what comes with football.”

The 6-foot-1, 199-pound product of Rutland High in Macon is working on coming in and out of his breaks as a route runner and making sure he has the plays down so he runs the right routes.

Williams missed practice time in the spring with a pulled hamstring, but he’s managed to stay on the field this preseason.
