UGA Down to Two QBs?

ATHENS - Georgia’s starting quarterback race may be down to two contenders.

Brice Ramsey and Greyson Lambert worked 1-2 in practice on Tuesday, a flip-flop from the top two the day before. Faton Bauta was No. 3 both days. That’s based on the portion of practice open to the media.

All three quarterbacks had been rotating taking turns with the ones previously, according to coaches.

Georgia coach Mark Richt wasn’t available to address the quarterbacks Tuesday but is expected to meet with the media again on Wednesday.

“All of them are doing fine right now,” wide receiver Reggie Davis said, echoing how players have addressed the quarterback decision most of the time when meeting reporters. “This is just a coach’s decision.”

Richt has said he could go into the Sept. 5 opener against Louisiana-Monroe planning to use two quarterbacks.

“If that’s what happens there’s nothing I can do about it but just play football,” Davis said.

Asked if it was difficult to adjust to different quarterbacks, Davis said: “Sometimes. At the end of the day, it’s fooball. You throw it, you catch it.”

Ramsey a redshirt sophomore, was the top backup last year. Lambert started nine games at Virginia last season and came to Georgia as a graduate transfer.

Georgia holds a practice game scrimmage on Thursday.
