Ben Cleveland Signs Papers w/ UGA

ATHENS - Five-star quarterback Jacob Eason isn’t the only 2016 commitment that has signed financial aid papers with Georgia.

Ben Cleveland, who struck up a friendship with Eason, also has sent in signed papers to Georgia, according to copies obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald under an open records request.

Cleveland is a four-star offensive lineman from Stephens County High School who committed on July 19, 2014. Both plan to enroll this winter at Georgia.

Eason, from Lake Stevens, Wash., signed his “athletic grant-in-aid offer” last Friday. Cleveland signed his on Aug. 11.

It covers an athletic scholarship for the spring semester and the 2016-17 academic year and states that each has “not signed an athletic grant-in-aid offer with any other NCAA member institution.

Signing financial aid binds the school to the player but not the player to the school.

It also allows coaches to speak publicly about a player and have unlimited contact with the player.
