Third-stringer Faton Bauta already is the team’s holder on field goals and extra points. Top backup Brice Ramsey had his first collegiate punt Saturday late in the Bulldogs win over South Carolina.
“I don’t know how many people noticed it,” coach Mark Richt said. “Even some of the coaches didn’t find out until (Sunday) that he actually punted it.”
Ramsey punted all four seasons at Camden County High and also was a kicker.
“He practices that a lot,” center Hunter Long said. “They were talking the other day in practice that he was ranked really high as a punter in high school. I didn’t even realize that.”
Ramsey’s punt went for 42 yards.
“He’s a guy we’ve been working in case anything ever happened to Collin (Barber),” Richt said. “We got into a situation in the game where we thought, you know what, let’s get him a game rep in case somewhere along the way he has to do it.”
