This marks the third time in a row the Bulldogs have been favored going to Knoxville. Georgia won the previous two contests against the Vols. Georgia-Tennessee has held to form in terms of Las Vegas’ guess as to who will win this contest of late. The favorite has won each game from 2008 until 2014. Upsets in the series were more frequent at the start of Mark Richt’s tenure at Georgia.
The Bulldogs upset the Vols in 2001 (+11) and 2005 (+3), while Tennessee upset the Bulldogs in 2007 (+1).
This week’s game comes after two disappointing losses for both teams. The Bulldogs (4-1) were blown out 38-10 by Alabama in Athens, while the Vols (2-3) dropped their second SEC contest of the year 24-20 to visiting Arkansas.
CBS will broadcast the game at 3:30.
