Alabama’s interception return for touchdown off Brice Ramsey came when Godwin didn’t run his route properly.
“Brice is trying to fit a ball in the backside seam and Terry needs to come a little flatter,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. “He made a really good throw on the pass that got intercepted for a touchdown.”
The five-star from Callaway High, as expected, is being counted on immediately as a freshman. He is second on the Bulldogs with 10 catches for 106 yards, including a clutch 26-yard catch near the sideline on a third down play Saturday.
“He’ll one day be a great player for the University of Georgia,” senior receiver Malcolm Mitchell said. “He’s already good. To be considered great, he just has to play more games, make more plays and that’s going to come with his talent level.”
Schottenheimer said young players like Godwin are going to make mistakes like on the angle he took on the interception.
“I think Terry is a terrific young player,” he said. “He’s still growing, he’s learning. I think he’ll be that much better this week.”
