Different Florida angles

ATHENS - Tidbits on Georgia-Florida rivalry

Growing up in Tallahassee, Georgia wide receiver Reggie Davis knows about what it’s like for a Florida rival to cringe at the sight of orange and blue.

Davis remembers going to a Florida State-Florida game in 2010 when Jeff Demps played for the Gators.

So who has more hate for the Gators? Florida State or Georgia?

“I think it’s equal,” Davis said laughing. “I think it’s really split down the middle.”

Richt played against Florida when he was at Miami and coached against the Gators at Florida State as an assistant.

“There's never been any confusion at my house in regard to that game,” Richt said.

Bulldogs offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is a former Gators backup quarterback and has experienced the Georgia-Florida game from that perspective.

He played in the 1996 game at the end of the third quarter of a 47-7 Gators win. He was 1-of-1 passing for 11 yards and was sacked once. He led the Gators on a field goal on that drive.

Other Notes:

McElwain likens being at the rivalry game Saturday in person like the difference between watching one of the most prestigious golf tournaments on TV versus being there. “I think

it’s like when you watch The Masters,” he said. “I’ve never been fortunate enough to go to Augusta but people who have been there they say as good as it looks on TV, you never

get to see it until you’re in person. I’m fired up to go see it.” …Brendan Douglas was the No. 2 tailback behind Sony Michel during the media viewing period. Keith Marshall was

No. 3. …Receiver Isaiah McKenzie (hamstring), fullback Christian Payne (leg) and defensive lineman John Atkins (foot) all practiced in a regular jersey Wednesday.
