UGA OL Wynn Slows Carl Lawson

AUBURN - Redshirt junior offensive lineman Greg Pyke returned to the starting lineup at right guard after being replaced by Dyshon Sims against Kentucky, but Pyke sustained a left knee injury in the third quarter and didn’t return.

"I don’t know,” Richt said when asked the extent of the injury. “Hopefully nothing serious.”

Sims returned to the lineup for Pyke.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Wynn more than held his own against Auburn’s talented pass rusher Carl Lawson. The sophomore was credited with just one tackle and one quarterback hurry.

“He didn’t touch my quarterback today,” Wynn said.

Wynn said they talked during the game, but there was no trash talking.

“No, I play with a big ole smile,” Wynn said.

Richt said Georgia tried to force Lawson to run inside because it had tight ends helping on the edge.

“We respected him enough to have a gameplan for him,” Richt said. “But also Isaiah had to do his thing.”

Georgia rushed for 146 yards on 45 carries, a 3.2 average.

“We could have a little bit more push up front, but I’m glad we got the W,” Wynn said.
