Dawgs Always Eager to see UGA

ATHENS - Quayvon Hicks is a well-built 260-pound, bruising fullback who tries to plow open holes on the football field.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a soft spot for Uga.

“It’s always exciting to see our mascot, man,” Hicks said. “I want to have his life. Sit back, laid back and have people touch you and enjoy every moment of you.”

Before Saturday’s game against Georgia Southern, there will be a changing of the collar ceremony.

Russ is retiring as Uga IX and Que will officially be introduced as Uga X.

Que has been on the sidelines this season already for Russ.

Inside linebacker Jake Ganus first pet Uga in the spring. He even got a picture with Russ.

Now it’s Que.

“Every time I see him, I go over and pet him,” said Ganus, who gets to see him at the team hotel before games. “I love dogs and bulldogs like that.”

Senior offensive linemen Hunter Long and Kolton Houston made sure to get their picture taken with the bulldog on Saturday after the win at Auburn.

“We didn’t even realize that was the new one,” Long said. “It’s going to be cool to see that (ceremony) happening. You can never get enough pictures of Uga.”
