On Christmas Day, head coach Kirby Smart got some big news as four-star linebacker Breon Dixon committed to the Bulldogs. The versatile 2017 commit finally got an offer from Georgia once coach Smart was in charge, and Dixon knew quickly that he wanted to be a bulldog and recruit others in the 2017 class. Although Dixon committed on Christmas, he admitted he made up his mind a couple of days prior.
“It was probably like two days before.” Dixon said about when he decided he wanted to commit to Georgia. “I just felt like it was the right time, and I just decided to wait and do it on Christmas with all of my family.”
Head coach Kirby Smart was a big reason for Dixon’s commitment, as the two have built a strong relationship already. “I told Coach Smart the night before. He recruited me for Alabama so I already had a good relationship with him. He offered me on my visit during dinner. It felt really good.”
While the coaching staff in still up in the air, Dixon admitted that he is already impressed with the new coaches at Georgia.
“Coaches at Georgia make it special. The coaches that Kirby (Smart) is bringing in are all great, and they all have a winning attitude. That’s something I really like about them.”
Like fellow 2017 Georgia commit Richard LeCounte (Liberty County), Dixon wants to make sure that the best players in the state will join him in Athens.
“We’ve got to lock down the state.” Dixon said. “I’m trying to bring in everybody like Jamyest Williams, Nigel (Warrior), D-Lo (DeAngelo Gibbs), everybody from 2016 and 2017.”
Dixon is very close with multiple top 2017 Georgia targets, along with LeCounte. He has the potential to be a fan favorite both on and off the field at Georgia.
