Dawg Post Recruiting Report - an up-to-the-minute look at recruiting at UGA.
As turns the corner towards Signing Day, there was a lot of movement in terms of recruiting news on Wednesday.
Chad Simmons reports that Isaac Nauta has “his mind is made up” about where he is going to play college football. He had a “good talk” with new UGA TEs coach Shane Beamer Tuesday night.
Alabama commit Tyler Simmons has scheduled an official visit to UGA for January 15th, and will try to get him to flip to the Bulldogs, who are in desperate need for receivers in this class.
Speaking of WRs, UGA is making a very hard play for Vierra, Fla. WR Tre Nixon. “Georgia is still VERY much in play for him,” Simmons said.
Keep an eye on 2016 WR Quartney Davis, who had been committed to Texas A&M before the roof fell in over there late last year. Davis was offered by the Bulldogs today.
Chad Simmons also reports that UGA is likely to get the final in-home visit from Demetris Robertson, who could be a critical part of the 2016 class. He’s considering the Bulldogs, Notre Dame, Alabama and Stanford.
Simmons backs up Dawg Post’s report on Tuesday that 5-star safety Nigel Warrior is now seriously considering the Bulldogs. “Things are really different now than they were a month ago,” Simmons reports. Kirby has made a huge impact here.”
That is major news. Georgia could possibly sign five 5-star players for the first time in school history this year. That would be a major accomplishment for Smart and his staff. But they will have to still add players like Warrior, Derrick Brown, Mecole Hardman, Ben Davis and Nauta. Jacob Eason, the 5-star UGA QB commit, is already in the fold.
