Houston coach concerned about week off

The Cougars had the week off before the Georgia game. And according to their coach, it might hurt their chances against Georgia.

Houston Head Coach Dana Dimel is concerned about many things, but most of all that his Cougars face Georgia the Saturday after their week off. "The open date also gives Georgia a chance to get another game and that will be a plus for them."

Perhaps Houston could have used the week off after their loss to Rice. Not only did the Owls soundly beat Houston two weeks ago, but they also exploited Houston's run defense, gaining nearly 400 yards on the ground.

Bad conditions played a part in the poor play for the Cougars according to their head coach, but he was still pleased with his team's effort in regards to penalties and turnovers. "We had one turnover and only four penalties in a rainy opener."

But Dimel still feels that Georgia has the upper hand due to the extra game that the Dawgs have played.

"When it's this early I'd prefer to play them with each of us having two games, but now it's two-to-one and it seems a little unbalanced."

Still, Dimel has tried to focus his team on the Georgia game by encouraging them to prepare in the off week as if it was a regular game week.

"With the off week, right now we're trying to make the guys understand to not use this as an off-week and take advantage the best that they can to get better for next week."

Georgia faces Houston at 1pm in Athens.
