Keep an eye on 5-star DL Brian Burns and 4-star WR Tre Nixon. Insiders have let Dawg Post know that the Gators’ coaching staff thinks that that duo is now leaning towards Georgia. Leaning at this time is not the same as “going to sign with”, however. Keep in mind that the Gators still get to host both recruits, so hold on.

Jim Cheney went to see 4-star Bob Jones OL Kendall Randolph and also 4-star Bob Jones DB A.J. Harris.

JUCO RB Justin Crawford, who grew up in Columbus and is eager to get a look from UGA, has decided to visit Missouri this weekend. He had been schedule to visit Texas A&M. Crawford was named the 2015 NJCAA Football Offensive Player of the Year. It is unclear if the Bulldogs are willing to take two running backs in this class.

Kirby Smart visited Pace Academy Wednesday to check in on 4-star 2017 WR Trey Blount, 4-star OL Andrew Thomas and 2018 4-star OT Jamaree Salyer. That duo helped Pace win its first state title in football in December. Thomas is considered the No. 206 overall prospect in the class of 2017. Thomas was offered by Mark Richt and his staff last March. Richt, too, went by to see the players at Pace today. Salyer has been pursued the most by Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Blount camped at UGA’s Dawg Night this past summer.

Blount told Matt DeBary of Smart's visit to Pace: "(Kirby) said he’s going to be knocking down my door to get me to Georgia.”

5-star Lanier DL Derrick Brown confirmed on his Twitter account that he will visit UGA this weekend. “Headed up to Athens this weekend. #GoDawgs.”

UGA commit and JUCO WR Javon Wims has will visit South Carolina this weekend.

As Chad Simmons reported Wednesday afternoon, Oconee County LB and UGA commit Jaleel Laguins will officially visit UGA on the final recruiting weekend of the year. “It was Tennessee that weekend, but Georgia has really turned things up with Laguins and now he plans to be in Athens January 29th,” Simmons reported.

Top Ten Tracker (Updated as needed):

Derrick Brown

As of January 13, 2016 - UGA will see Derrick Brown on Thursday, the first day schools are able to get back on the road to recruit.

As of January 12, 2016 - Brown is an elite talent that has been targeted by schools nationwide.  He has been and still is a top target for the Dawgs.  Georgia is trying to get bigger and stronger up front and Brown could provide that.

Demetris Robertson

As of January 18, 2016 - Chad Simmons: “Bama does not feel they have a GREAT chance… ND likes their spot right now... UGA feels they are in it...  ND feels UGA is out, but Bama is a threat...  Stanford has not been involved in a while, but most still felt the Cardinal is the team to beat.”

As of January 14, 2016 - Glenn Schumman is set to visit with Demetris Robertson on the first day of recruiting.

As of January 12, 2016 - An athlete who could play for Georgia immediately on either side of the ball.  Georgia has had him high on their board for a couple of years now and they may have moved up Robertson's list with the Smart hire.

Mecole Hardman Jr.

As of January 20, 2016 - Chad Simmons reports: “Right now I believe it is Alabama and Georgia at the top. I don’t see Ohio State entering into play for Mecole.”

As of January 18, 2016 - Said of his offical visit to Ohio State: "Loving the visit!! Coach Meyer may be the coolest coach out there. #Buckeyes defiantly in my Top schools."

As of January 14, 2016 - New UGA defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will visit Mecole Hardman today, which is the same day Nick Saban and Jeremy Pruitt are scheduled to see him as well.

As of January 13, 2016 - Dawg Post can report that Elbert County is planning for an "early morning announcement" on Signing Day for Hardman.

As of January 13, 2016 - Chad Simmons is reporting that Alabama's Nick Saban and Jeremy Pruitt will visit with Hardman on Thursday.

As of January 12, 2016 - Explosive as they come.  A special talent who can be dynamic on the football field.  A selfless young man who could shine at slot or cornerback.  Another playmaker who can make an immediate impact.

Nigel Warrior

As of January 13, 2016 - UGA will see 5-star DB Nigel Warrior on Thursday, the first day schools are able to get back on the road to recruit.

As of January 12, 2016 - A coveted defensive back with speed, ball skills, and instincts that will be able to sign where he wants.  A top target for Georgia who is very high on Alabama's board, so with Smart's move to Athens, this helps the Dawgs.

Brian Burns

As of January 18, 2016 - Said of his official visit to UGA: "Georgia is where I could live."

As of January 13, 2016 - UGA will see Scout 100 DE Brian Burns on Thursday, the first day schools are able to get back on the road to recruit.

As of January 12, 2016 - The Dawgs want Burns, an elite pass rusher with length and speed to the ball.  At one time UGA was considered the favorite, but Florida has taken that spot, but expect Smart and his staff to turn things up here in January.

Tyler Simmons

As of January 19, 2016 - UGA seems to have the gut feeling that Alabama will sign Simmons.

As of January 18, 2016 - Wrapped up a great offical visit to UGA by saying: “I do not think Kirby is going to take no as an answer from me.

As of January 13, 2016 - UGA will see Alabama WR commit Tyler Simmons on Thursday, the first day schools are able to get back on the road to recruit.

As of January 12, 2016 - There is a big need at wide receiver for Georgia and Simmons is a wanted prospect, even though he picked Alabama a few weeks ago. He is now planning to take his official visit in January and that could be key.  He is a wide receiver with track speed.

Willie Allen

As of January 12, 2016 - With the need up front on the offensive line, Allen is expected to be a big target for Georgia moving forward.  He is a big body from an elite high school program who could play tackle or guard.

E.J. Price

As of January 14, 2016 - Sam Pittman is set to see the Archer offensive lineman.

As of January 12, 2016 - Price is a one-time Georgia commit and it could come back full circle. He is an offensive lineman with the ability to move around and play multiple positions.

Ben Davis

As of January 19, 2016 - Davis told the Athens Banner-Herald’s Marc Weiszer that UGA is telling him that he can fill a very important void. “Kind of like Floyd,” Daivs said. “Playing a role like he plays. I kind of model my game around him. I watched him play when they played Missouri and they won. It was a great game. That’s kind of what I like about him.”

As of January 18, 2016 - Made a lot of his visit to UGA and hanging out with Kirby Smart on Twitter. The Bulldogs seemed to make some read headway with the top linebacker in the country.

As of January 12, 2016 - Not long after the announcement of Kirby smart taking over Georgia did David reveal the Dawgs were his new No. 1 school.  Still, he is an Alabama legacy, so he will not be an easy pull out of the state of Alabama, but Georgia is a legit contender.

Shyheim Carter

As of January 12, 2016 - The combination of Carter being a one-time Alabama commit, his interest in Georgia, and the need in the secondary for UGA, this is a big target.  He knows Smart well, so we will see if that helps.
