Andrew Thomas is a top 2017 line for Pace Academy in Atlanta. UGA Coach Kirby Smart stopped by Pace Academy on Wednesday to check in with Thomas, 2017 wide receiver Trey Blount, and 2018 offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer. Smart made sure Thomas knew he was a top priority.
“He (Smart) came by and congratulated me on the season and winning the championship.” Thomas said. “He said he liked how I played and how he wants me to get up to the campus.”
It didn’t take long for the 6’4, 288-pound junior to make a visit to the Classic City.
“I’m visiting Georgia on Saturday with my coaches and probably some other players.” Thomas said. “I’ve been one visit to Georgia before and I also went over there for Dawg-Night in the summer.”
Thomas said he’s eager to get to know the new offensive line coach Sam Pittman
“I’ve spoken to Coach (Sam) Pittman briefly once before.” Thomas said. “I know he’s had a successful coaching career so far.”
Thomas is very athletic for his size, and holds 288 pounds with ease. He showed good quickness on film, and dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage for Pace Academy this season, leading them to the state championship.
Although Thomas played in a small classification in high school, he has the size and quickness to be one of the best offensive linemen in the state of Georgia for the 2017 class. Thomas is not a man of many words, but I get the feeling that Georgia is in good shape early in the process for the talented lineman.
