What it means: Chauncey Manac is a big-bodied kid with tremendous upside. He indicated that he was committed to UGA - not necessarily the coach after Mark Richt was fired. His picking the Bulldogs and sticking with them through that transition is yet more evidence that many kids just plain want to play for Georgia no matter what. He’s a good pass rusher, but raw. He had 68 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and ten sacks his junior season, so that means he’s productive. He’s going to have to add a little more mass to play effectively on the defensive line in the SEC. That could be one reason he’s better at rushing the passer than defending the run. You have to do both to be effective in this league.

Chad Simmons says: Manac is known for attacking the quarterback off the edge. He has speed to burn as a rush end, and could get a look as a stand-up linebacker due to his size, athleticism, and speed on the field. He is better getting up the field to apply pressure to the quarterback than he is at playing the run. Where he needs to improve: leverage and ability to hold ground against bigger offensive linemen. On the next levels, he should be a true edge-rusher.
