Simmons Signs w/ UGA: What It Means

Dean Legge explains what Tyler Simmons signing with UGA means.

What it means: This one is major news for the Bulldogs. It is the first major flip to Kirby Smart on Signing Day - against his former employer no less. This one has been a bitter fight to the end between the Bulldogs and Tide - and Georgia came out on top for a receiver they really needed badly because of the lack of depth at the position. Is Simmons’ skill set as high as the fight to get him? Maybe not, but UGA needed him in a bad way, and Simmons could feel that when he told Chad Simmons in January that Smart probably wouldn’t let him go to Alabama. Simmons was right - Smart wasn’t going to let it happen. +1 for Kirby.

Chad Simmons says: Simmons is dangerous with the ball in his hands. He is an athlete with speed that plays the game of football. Can project a wide receiver, a running back, or a defensive back. His highest ceiling may be as a slot. Very good quickness and outstanding in space. Consistent catching the football with his hands. Can make guys miss. Timed consistently sub 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash and he plays that fast.
