Rhode Island transfer OL Tyler Catalina will officially visit UGA this weekend. It is one of many trips around the SEC that Catalina is taking now that Signing Day is done. He’s already visited Florida and is set to visit Auburn next weekend.
Catalina seems in no hurry to make a decision, but he’s got a good opportunity to play right away at Auburn and in Athens specifically. At 6-6, 298 pounds, Catalina would at least give the Bulldogs a major body to work with at offensive tackle. The departure of John Theus and Kolton Houston has opened up an opportunity (or exposed a deficiency) for someone to step up on UGA’s OL.
New offensive line coach Sam Pittman has aggressively recruited offensive lineman for the class of 2016, but he didn’t sign what Scout considered a “true” offensive tackle in this class. Head coach Kirby Smart has gone on record saying that the Bulldogs need to sign offensive tackles in the future - meaning the 2017 class and beyond.null
