UGA Insider Notes

Insider scoop from the Dawg Post crew after Sunday's MVP Camp in Atlanta.

—  UGA has offered 2017 WR Jeremiah Holloman out of Covington (Ga.) Newton County.  This offer happened just hours after he was named Top Performer at the MVP Camp Sunday afternoon.  Holloman is long and smooth.  Legit 6-2, long arms, and he really has a great catch radius.  I have him under-ranked and after seeing him live for the first time Sunday, he will be a Scout 300 prospect in the coming hours.  His tape is good, but in person, he is even better.  Very smooth and he can take the top off the defense.  He got the offer Sunday night and he will be in Athens right away — Monday afternoon/evening, Holloman will be on the Georgia campus.  With this offer, Georgia is up at the top with Tennessee.

—  Another star at the MVP Camp was Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson Olin 4-star LB T.D. Moultry.  He is a true inside linebacker who can play sideline to sideline.  He is physical and he talked with Glenn Schumann after the camp getting an offer from the Dawgs.  Moultry has Alabama and Auburn offers, but Georgia is a school he has always liked.  Look for him to visit Athens soon.  He is 6-2, 225 pounds.

—  Mecole Hardman, Jr. was out at the camp working with DBs Sunday.  He was left when I left working with about 3-4 kids still over an hour and a half after the camp had ended.  This kid impressed SO MANY on Sunday.  I had two parents contact me Sunday night asking if Mecole does training with younger kids because they wanted their kids to work with him.  Mecole was a guest speaker and he was very impressive talking about how he earned his first offer the week after his MVP Camp and so on.  UGA fans are excited about him on the field, but they should be equally as excited about him off the field.

—  William Poole visited Florida Friday and the Gators have put themselves back into this race.  Georgia had a STRONG lead here since he last visited Athens, but that is not the case anymore.  He is now not planning to commit as soon as he was.  He is likely going to visit UGA and UF at least one more time before that decision is made.  Poole really likes Torian Gray, the DB coach at Florida.  At this time a week ago, I would have said Poole is 99-percent a Dawg, but not anymore.

—  Trevor Lawrence was Trevor Lawrence Sunday.  For me, he was EASILY the top prospect there at the MVP Camp.  He is just different is SO MANY GOOD ways.  The kid has ALL the tools and he just has IT.  So humble, so gracious, so smart.  Georgia is the leader by a small margin right now based on what I am hearing.  He is visiting Florida soon and Alabama could get a visit as well.  He will be back at UGA for a practice as well.

—  Keep an eye on new CB target Yusuf Corker.  I recently saw him live for the first time and he is IMPRESSIVE.  Another kid who is moving up my board in terms of rankings.  He is a legit 6-feet tall, very well put together, and a prospect who is likely to play in the South.  He really likes Smart and Mel Tucker.  He does have a cousin, that is a WR, and if schools jump on him, then that would play into his decision.  They are close and would like to play together.  With that said, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and others are now fighting for Corker.

—  Justin Mascol is another 2018 prospect to know/watch.  He is planning to visit Georgia again soon.  He is a big-time DE prospect out of South Gwinnett and his family likes Smart and the Dawgs.

—  2019 OL Keiondre Jones out of Hoganville (Ga.) Callaway may only be a freshman, but he wears a size 18 shoe, he has huge hands, and he has very good feet.  He is already high on my board and he is a kid I know will be in the five star discussion very early.  he was very good on Sunday at the MVP Camp as well when I saw him.  He has already visited UGA this year and he says he will be back Saturday.  I like Georgia's chances here early on.  His parents were with him and they like UGA as well.
