UGA QBs Continue Competition

ATHENS - Kirby Smart isn’t going to put a timeline on his quarterback competition.

Spring football might not produce a starting quarterback.

“There is no timetable on the quarterbacks,” Smart said today.

UGA’s three quarterbacks, Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey and newcomer Jacob Eason, will all be able to throw with all of the receivers, Smart said today. The new coach also said that Lambert would practice with the No. 1 unit today, Ramsey with the No. 2 and Eason with the No. 3 - “for today.”

“We are going to evaluate those three guys each day. We are going to encourage them to worry about getting better each day, and not worry about the result of each practice,” Smart said. “Coach Cheney and I have had in-depth conversations about how we will practice. I think the biggest thing you can do at that position is structure the practice so that you get to see each guy the right amount of times. It is what each guy is doing in his group that is important (to the coaches), and we will structure practice so that we get to see them progress as the go along.”
