Cancellations force UGA AA into problem

How will Georgia reschedule an opponent that will not interfere with the SEC title game in December?

The following is a list of teams that are "off" the two weeks that Georgia is "off." These teams are the most likely to play the Dawgs considering the scheduling situation.

Possible games for September 22

Georgia Tech – would be interesting, but already scheduled for end of season.

LSU – not likely, teams are in same conference and are not scheduled to play one another again for seasons.

Ole Miss – already scheduled later in season

Tennessee – game will be played in two weeks after September 22.

Iowa – possible, but Hawkeyes are off this week and don't need to make a game up.

Minnesota - possible, but Gophers are off this week and don't need to make a game up.

Marshall – open week, no need for Herd to make up a game, plus MAC conference game gets in the way.

UAB – playing Pitt in December, there is no need to play one more game.

Louisville – possible, don't need extra game.

Army – Can't play them in December. But they are off when the Dawgs are off next week. Strong possibility of game. Everything works out well, Army could come to Athens. Cadets still need a game and so do Dawgs.

Oklahoma – not likely due to extra preseason game and Big12 title game.

Nebraska – not available because make up with Rice will be next Thursday.

Missouri – possible, but not probable due to Big 12 title game considerations

Miami (Fl) – would be nice, but the Canes are already rescheduling Washington for at the end of the season. This all but knocks the Canes out of Georgia's realm of possibility.

Pitt - playing UAB in December, there is no need to play one more game.

Oregon State – no need for Beavers to make up extra game. But because they are not in a conference with a title game it is possible to see them in Athens next weekend.

Hawaii – scheduled to host Nevada this weekend and the Warriors are blank next weekend. Look for Hawaii to try to get another WAC foe in to play instead of coming to Athens.

Louisiana Tech – is playing Kansas State this weekend. No need for make up game.

Rice - not available because make up with Nebraska will be next Thursday.

Possible games on November 3rd

Oklahoma – not likely due to extra preseason game and Big12 title game.

Oklahoma State – Cowboys have Northern Arizona this week at home. This could be possible. But where would it be played?

Memphis – already has eleven games scheduled.

Toledo - open week, no need for Rockets to make up a game, plus MAC conference game gets in the way.

Western Michigan - open week, no need for Broncos to make up a game, plus MAC conference game gets in the way.

Auburn – Dawgs play Tigers week after this off week.

South Carolina – already been played, but the Cocks need an opponent now too. Hummmmm.

Boise State – possible, depends on Western Michigan's fate and the MAC title game, which is strange cause Boise is in the Mountain West.

UTEP – no telling, not a very attractive opponent, but anything that you can get now is good.

Wyoming – playing Kansas on Saturday, no need for extra game.

So there you have it. These are the limited number of teams that are most likely for Georgia to schedule in their off weeks. It is unlikely that Georgia will play and SEC opponent to get back the 11th game of the season.

It is very possible that the Dawgs could schedule a game on the same day as the SEC championship date. But we wont really know who will be playing in that game for a while. Besides, Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina are all scrambling to find opponents right now too.

Army seems like a great fit right now. But there are many things that could be done to circumvent the problem at hand. A re-match with South Carolina on the 3rd of November is available, but not probable. The game would most certainly be in Columbia. It would allow both schools to get the 11th game back, but would put both teams in a BRUTIAL stretch of a schedule that neither has ever seen before.

The days and weeks ahead should be interesting. What will Georgia do to get a team to Athens? How will the SEC correct this later in the year?

Prayers are still needed for things more important than football.
