Smart on UGA QBs: All 3 Different

ATHENS - Kirby Smart says that he’s got three very different quarterbacks to pick from for this fall.

“Each one of them are so different. I have never been around a situation where they are so different,” Smart said in an interview with 680 the Fan earlier on Tuesday.

On Greyson Lambert:

“Greyson handles the offense so smoothly. He communicates really well. He handles the huddle really well, which is important in a pro-style system. He’s very level headed. He’s not real emotional. He does a lot of things to fix things that could become a problem.”

On Brice Ramsey:

“Brice, who has thrown the ball well; he’s made some really impressive throws. He’s made some plays with his feet, which I think is critical to differentiate him from the other guys. He’s been able, in a couple of two-minute situations, to take off running and create a little bit of space. If the rush breaks down he goes and makes a play. There are certain coverages you can’t play on a running quarterback. Well, if you try to make them on him, and he can expose you. He can take off running. So he’s done a nice job with that, and made some good throws.”

On Jacob Eason:

“Jacob has really come a long well. He’s progressed and picked up the system. He’s made some very, very good throws. He’s made so bonehead throws that make it look like he should be in high school, and that’s technically where he should be right now. He’s flashed at times.”

On all three:

“It is an interesting race because each guy brings a different dynamic to to the table. We need to figure out which dynamic fits our team best.”
