Top DB Picks Dawgs Over Gators: What it Means

ATHENS - The first Georgia-Florida recruiting fight of the class of 2017 has gone to the Bulldogs.

William Poole, who had been leaning towards UGA before the Gators surged to equal footing in the last month, committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs on Saturday. He’s the seventh player to commit to Georgia for Smart’s class of 2017. Georgia is now ranked inside Scout’s top ten classes nationally.

“He has good length at 6-feet tall, and he plays big on the outside,” Scout national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons said. “Poole may not be a burner or the most explosive player, but he has quickness and he reacts well to receivers.”

The win is another big one for Kirby Smart and company. Poole is the third player in the Top 100 to pick the Bulldogs. He’s also the third player in the top eight overall players in Georgia to choose the Bulldogs.

Poole joins four-star Liberty County DB Richard LeCounte in the Bulldogs’ secondary for this recruiting class so far.
