Offer No. 12 is in for 2018 RB Dameon Pierce and it came from the home state Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia was in South Georgia Thursday and it extended an offer to one of the top sophomores in the state. It was a wanted offer...

"That offer from Georgia means a lot.  I have been waiting on that one for a while now," said Dameon Pierce.

Georgia's running back coach Dell McGee made a stop at Bainbridge (Ga.) Thursday morning and he was there for a reason — Pierce.

Pierce is a 5-foot-11, 205 pound running back in the 2018 class that was named four stars by Scout last year.  He is a back with balance, tackle-breaking ability, acceleration and he is very productive.  He rushed for over 2,000 yards and scored 33 touchdowns on the ground in 2015.  Pierce now has a dozen offers and he will be one of the highest ranked running backs in his class.

The offer from UGA is big for multiple reasons.  It is an in-state school.  Pierce's favorite player is former Georgia running back Toddy Gurley.  And Pierce likes the tradition in Athens (Ga.) and how they have developed top running back after top running back over the years.

The only visit he has taken this spring was to Georgia, for G-Day.  He likes what he sees early at UGA.

"It was great on G-Day.  They had a record-breaking crowd, people were standing on the stairs, and it was a good experience overall.

"I like the new coaching staff and I can tell they are really motivating the players well.  I love the fans at Georgia — they are die hard fans that love their football.

"I will probably be back up there for a summer camp."

It is too early to say just where Georgia stands on his list of favorites.  Pierce is not ready to name those just yet.  He plans to take things at a slow pace.

"You can say this offer from Georgia spiced things up a bit for me and recruiting, but I do not have a list or anything yet," said Pierce.  "I am just enjoying the [recruiting] process right now and taking things slow."

Pierce has also been offers by Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Stanford among others.
