Dawg Post Monday Recruiting Update

DawgPost takes a look at a couple of lineman prospects in the state of Georgia.

A name to remember on the defensive line in 2017 is Southwest Macon lineman B.J Sharpe.  Sharpe was impressive last December during Elite Junior Showcase week, and programs have started to notice.  Sharpe has three SEC offers already including mighty Alabama, but the home state Bulldogs are starting to gain interest as well.

"Georgia has been sending me something nearly every day, but they have not been by my school." Sharpe said. "I have spoken to defensive line coach Tracy Rocker though.  He said he loved my film and he wants to see me more at their camp. He said they need some more defensive lineman that can come in and play."

The 6-foot-3 263-pound Macon native has put on some weight this spring, but still looks lean physically.  On film he does a good job of using his hands to separate from lineman, and does a nice job in pursuit of the football once shedding blocks.  He has good strength, and showed he can also lay a big hit on the quarterback.  He is not the most explosive guy, but hes a strong kid who has a nose for the football.

Sharpe claims offers from Mercer, Miami (OH), Alabama, Mississippi State, and Kentucky with more seemingly on the way.

Another peach state lineman who has had a nice spring is Johns Creek (GA) offensive lineman Reuben Unije.  I've seen Unije at multiple camps in the past 12 months, and he continues to get better each time I see him.  Unije had a strong performance during the Opening in Atlanta back in March, winning reps against some of the best 2017 pass rushers in the state.  The 2018 lineman has good size at 6-foot-6 300-pounds, and has the frame to continue adding weight.

Unije is a true competitor who is really enjoying the recruiting process so far.  He had to wait a little for his first offer, but now that he has his first few, more could be on the way.  The Georgia Bulldogs are a team that is starting to show interest as well.

"Coach Pittman came by my school to see me last week." Unije said.  "Ill be going up to their camp June 3rd.  I'm hoping to earn an offer if I do well at the camp."

Unije also plans to camp at Alabama, Florida State, and Clemson this summer. N.C State, Cincinatti, and Missouri have already offered one of the top lineman in Georgia for the 2018 class.  Look for more to come this summer.
