DawgPost Update: Aubrey Solomon

Aubrey Solomon is one of the state’s top ranked defensive linemen, and he is being recruited by some of the best teams in the country. He talks about recruiting, and where the Georgia Bulldogs stand with some of his other top schools.

Lee County (GA) star Aubrey Solomon is a wanted man right now.  The 6-foot-3 304-pound lineman has offers from Florida, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida State, Southern California, among others. While many schools have Solomon’s interest, there is currently one school sitting at the top of his list.

Right now my recruitment is still very open.” Solomon said. “I’m starting to cut down the list.  Alabama is still my number 1 ahead of Clemson, Oregon, USC, UGA, and Florida.”

Solomon is ready for a busy summer, as he and his mother have sat down and did some research on some schools he would like to see in the next few months.

I’ll be taking multiple trips to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Auburn this summer.” Solomon said.

The Bulldogs have been trailing in Solomon’s recruitment for some time now, but the Georgia staff is trying hard to get back in the race.

They (Georgia) sent my mom birthday cards yesterday and that was big.” Solomon said. I’ve been to Georgia about 9 times and I love it.  The last time I visited was right before G-day.  I would say I connect better with this new coaching staff way better than any other coaching staff.”

Solomon said his conversations with the new Georgia staff are more about life and less about football.

When I talk to the UGA coaches they just show me that it’s not just football with them.” Solomon said. “They want you to get your education first off then they want to help you mature into the man your parents see you being.”

So when does the state’s top-ranked defensive tackle visit the Bulldogs again?

“Visit wise it’s just going to be random times during the summer especially now that Chris (Barnes) is going to be there.” Solomon said.  “That helps Georgia a whole lot because Chris is like a big brother.”

So what exactly is Solomon looking for in a school?

“I’m looking for a place with good people who look out for the player’s interest.” Solomon said. “I want to be able to go to a school where my mom won’t constantly worry about my whereabouts.  We are very close and we are 50/50 in the process.”

Look for a decision to be made on either October 21st, or on Signing Day in February.  While the Bulldogs still have some catching up to do, things are starting to look better as the process continues.
