It was a good day for the Bulldogs as they picked up a commitment from three-star receiver Matt Landers. The staff has made it clear they are going after bigger targets at the receiver position, and Landers has plenty of size at 6-foot-5 192-pounds. He needs to add some weight and muscle, but a heavy focus in the weight room could fix that. Landers joins 6-foot-4 Xavier Jenkins and 6-foot-2 Trey Blount on the commitment list so far. The Bulldogs are also going after 6-foot-2 Jeremiah Holloman, although he looks taller than that to me. Landers is easily the tallest of the group, and should be a solid red-zone weapon in Athens the next few years.
On film what stands out the most was his big play ability. While he did not play against the toughest competition, Landers still showcased the ability to make a big play whenever he touches the ball. He can stretch the defense downfield, and he can make the short catch and take it the distance as well. Landers also displayed good speed for his size, exceptional ball skills, and the ability to break tackles after the catch. He is not the fastest guy, but hes fast enough to blow by the average cornerback. When covered closely, Landers has the ability to make plays above the defender because of his size and soft hands. He needs to continue to work on running better routes if he wants to be a complete receiver, but he definitely has the measurables that the Georgia staff is currently looking for at the receiver position.
The St. Petersburg (FL) native is ranked as the 12th best receiver in Florida, and chose the Bulldogs over Auburn , Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss.null
