While it may be a long way away, many talented sophomores are starting to become big names in recruiting. One of those players is Sheffield. Programs like Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Maimai, Ole Miss, among others have offered the 6-foot-2 175-pound Sheffield, but a few are standing out among the rest.
"Recruiting is going well so far." Sheffield said. "I'm hearing from Clemson, FSU, Miami, and Florida the most right now."
Sheffield has been a busy prospect so far this summer, having taken visits to both Florida State and Clemson last week. Sheffield admitted that he had a great visit to Clemson.
"I worked out with wide receivers coach (Jeff) Scott who would be my position coach." Sheffield said. "I got to participate in the camp they had."
Sheffield got to work with some big Clemson targets at the camp in wide receivers Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers.
"That was pretty cool." Sheffield said. "I learned a lot from those guys. Then we hung out in the players lounge some and hung out with coach Scott. I got to speak with head coach Dabo Swinney too."
Sheffield also had good things to say about Florida State as well, a team that seems to be in a good position early in Sheffield's recruitment.
"I like FSU because of the history that they have there." Sheffield said. "They are a winning program. The first college football game that I went to was at Florida State. I like the coaches there too."
Another school that is recruiting Sheffield is the home-state Georgia Bulldogs. While the Bulldogs might not be recruiting Sheffield as hard as others, he admitted that he would like to visit Athens in the near future.
I'll probably take my next visit to Miami next month. Then possibly Georgia. Linebackers coach Glen Shuman will let my coach know that he wants me to come visit next month. Richard (LeCounte) is my cousin and he wants me to come up there with him soon. He always talks about me coming up to visit Athens."
