Named to the Mackey award watch list, Blazevich is one of the premier players at the position in the conference.
A bevy of opportunities may await him with Chaney’s offense having been tight end friendly in his previous stops at Tennessee, Arkansas and Pittsburgh.
Blazevich seemed hopeful saying, “Just seeing what he does with the tight ends like Hunter Henry at Arkansas, it’s really exciting to see what our role could be.” However, make no mistake running the football is still the focus. “We are continuing to develop our identity around being a running offense.”
Blazevich was close with former coach Mark Richt but highlighted that the team was happy with the Kirby Smart hire. “There was a long period where we were in the dark and just ready to work. When we found it was Coach Smart we were happy.” On the field the message seems to be getting through as well. “He is very methodical and displays his message well throughout the ranks.”
The tempo that Coach Smart has brought was touched on yet again with Blazevich stating, “You have to think on the fly and be prepared with the quicker tempo. It almost replicates a game.”
