Insider Report: The Landscape of UGA's 2018

ATHENS - Dawg Post's latest updates on the class of 2018 including: Brenton Cox, Quay Walker, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Mascoll and J.J. Peterson.

Georgia offered Brenton Cox at camp Sunday inside Sanford Stadium.  Kirby made the offer and they like him at LB.  He is most comfortable now at DE with his hand down, but both Bama and UGA worked him out at LB this summer, and offered him.  He is an athletic kid around 6-3, 230 pounds.  His intensity has been questioned and he recently transferred schools (now at Stockbridge from Miller Grove), but he passes the eye test, and when I watched him Tuesday, he looked good.  Georgia was his "dream" school growing up.

The Dawgs are the team to beat for 4-star OLB Quay Walker out of Crisp County, Big Cat's teammates.  Walker was at Auburn Friday, camped, and got that offer, then visited Georgia Saturday.  Georgia makes him feel wanted and at home.  There is a good chance he and Bryant go to the same school.  He grew up a Florida fan and he wants to visit them soon.  Auburn is also in this now.  He does not play to make a decision in 2016.

Nothing new with Trevor Lawrence... Still would like to visit Clemson and Georgia before he makes his decision.  No date, not visits set yet and this one is still very tight as I reported a couple of weeks ago.

One to watch imo, as I posted back early spring is Justin Mascoll.  The South Gwinnett DE is a strong lean to UGA. He wants to hold out, but I would be a little surprised if he is not a Bulldog by season's end.

UGA had Scout 100 LB J.J. Peterson out of Colquitt County on campus Sunday and he is a PRIORITY.  Georgia likes him as an ILB down the road, and he is one I am hearing is very high on their board.
