Practice notes from 8-19-2003

Athens, Ga. --- The Georgia Bulldogs worked out for two hours at the Woodruff practice fields on Tuesday, continuing preparations for the season-opening matchup at Clemson on Aug. 30.

"We worked in full pads and had a good physical day and spent time on Clemson again," said head coach Mark Richt. "We finished on the goal line and the offense won six of eight possessions, which has been unusual lately."

"It started out cool but the cloud cover disappeared and it started to get warm again. It was a tester for them. It was physical and it was hot," Richt said.

Junior defensive end Will Thompson injured his ankle during an inside drill and was taken for X-rays.

"I'm not positive how bad it was. He might miss game time," Richt said.

Georgia will continue practice tomorrow and will hold its final preseason scrimmage on Thursday.

The Bulldogs open the 2003 season at 12 p.m. on Aug. 30 at Clemson. ABC will televise the game live to much of the country.
