Dawg Post Thursday Update:

Dawg Post takes a look at some of the day's top recruiting stories.

The big news of the day in Athens is that senior quarterback Greyson Lambert has been named the starter over freshman Jacob Eason. Eason looked much better this spring during the G-day scrimmage, but Lambert knows the system, he has experience as a starter in the SEC, and while he did make plenty of mistakes last season, he managed to not turn the ball over. With a strong running game and good defense, Lambert's conservative arm and frequent check downs should work just fine against UNC. I still think Eason will get snaps in the game, just not sure how many and when he will get them.

On the recruiting front, today is the day college coaches are able to direct message or e-mail recruits. Coaches all over the country reached out to some of the best in Georgia this morning letting them know they are a top priority for their school.

Houston County OL Trey Hill told me Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Arkansas were three of the first to reach out to him today.

IMg (FL) OL Reuben Unije said Georgia, Penn State, LSU, Florida, Ole Miss, among others have reached out. The four-star transfer from Johns Creek (GA) is dealing with a current finger injury.

TOP DB prospect Christian Tutt told me Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, LSU, FSU, among others have sent him messages today. Tutt is a four-star prospect and the top cornerback prospect in Georgia for the 2018 class.

2018 WR Xavier Williams has heard from Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, among others. The 6-foot 180-pound four-star prospect is ranked as the top receiver prospect in Florida among juniors. Look for the Bulldogs to keep pursuing Williams heavily the next two years.

The big high school game tomorrow is the powerhouse matchup between Cartersville and Calhoun. 5* QB Trevor Lawrence leads the Hurricanes against a very good Calhoun team who always seems to compete for championships. This is one of the premier games in northwest Georgia for the 2016 season.

Another game that might be interesting to Georgia fans is Pace Academy against Hapeville Charter. It's always fun watching Pace lineman Andrew Thomas and Jamaree Salyer dominate opposing offensive lineman, but the matchup I'm looking forward to is Pace receiver Trey Blount against Hapeveille corner William Poole. Both are Georgia commits for 2017 and both are two of the best players at their position in the state. When Blount isn't being covered by Poole, he will likely be matched up against 2018 cornerback Chris Smith, who holds offers from Auburn and Southern Cal. There might not be another game in Georgia this year with more UGA commits and targets.

UGA commit Jaden Hunter leads his Westlake team against Shiloh this Friday, while Richard LeCounte and Liberty County square off against Statesboro. Jake Fromm, Justin Shaffer, and Netori Johnson play on teams who are off this week.
