Dawg Post Recruiting Scoop

Dawg Post's recruiting news and notes including updates on: Aaron Sterling, Trevor Lawrence, Aubrey Solomon, DeAngelo Gibbs, Leonard Warner and E.J. Price.

—  Scout 300 DE Malik Herring says he is taking his official visit to Georgia for the Tennessee game.  We will see if he actually does indeed take it then... I could see him ending up being there as an unofficial visitor, then taking his official at a later date.  We will see this time next week exactly what his plans are.  Either way, he is expected in Athens, and the Dawgs are still in a very good spot.

—  I did not mention above that I have also stopped briefly in Miss.  That is where Cam Akers is, and I have confirmed that he plans to visit Georgia for the Tennessee game.  It is set to be an unofficial visit.  I have not gotten a confirmation from him personally that he will take an official visit, but someone close to him said they "thought" Georgia would get one.  Akers is in the process of cutting his list down again, but there is no doubt that he is focused on his season and team right now.  He is not talking to a lot of schools and all that.  I am still hearing UGA is trailing, but UGA is really staying on him.  They have not let up with the attention.

—  On E.J. Price, there has not been a lot to come out of this just yet, but based on what I have heard over the last 36 hours, Price not likely to end up at UGA.  In time, more will come, but I have done some checking (when I have had time in between stops), and it does not see that, AT THIS TIME, Georgia is that interested in going down this path.  We will continue to monitor this.

—  Leonard Warner is planning to take his official visit to Georgia on Tennessee weekend.  He hopes to commit to someone in October.  A visit to Stanford is still being worked on I am told.

—  DeAngelo Gibbs will be in Knoxville this weekend for the Tennessee game.  He will be in Athens for the Tennessee game on October 1.

—  Robert Beal is planning to take his official visit to UGA the weekend of Oct. 1.  I have a feature coming on Beal, and he is still strong to the Dawgs.

—  2019 WR Dominick Blaylock with be in Athens October 1.  There will be a LONG and IMPRESSIVE list that weekend... That close alone — guys like Blaylock, Ryland Goede, Nolan Smith, Keiondre Jones, Jaylen McCullogh and Luke Griffin are all guys I have been told will be there.  Those are ALL elite sophomores in Georgia.  Griffin is committed, and I would say UGA leads for the others outside of McCullogh due to him not having an offer yet.

—  Cole Phillips is a kicker to know.  He is at Cairo.  I saw him booming kicks and field goals when I was down there in August watching practice.  UGA has inquired about him I was told by the coach at Cairo. Phillips has been "automatic" at 50 yards and inside I was told.  His only miss this season was from 63 yards and it was about 5 yards long and barley right I was told.  Just someone to watch.  As of now, I am hearing UGA is searching for an elite kicker, and an offer or two is very much possible in this class.  Brenton King is another kicker out of Mill Creek that UGA has checked on.  He was impressive in the GA Dome at the Corky Kell.  Both are likely to visit UGA in October I am hearing.

—  I touched on this Sunday, but Aaron Sterling is a DL UGA is very much interested in.  He has talked to Georgia this week, UGA saw him play last week, and he is one to watch.  I am told he will be back at UGA October 1.  He is wanting to some time to clear his head, so he is not going on record with interviews, but Georgia and South Carolina along with NC State are three schools very much under consideration right now.

—  Still all the same with T Lawrence... Visiting UGA for Tennessee game like I reported over a week ago, then to Clemson for the NC State game is the plan I am hearing.

—  Aubrey Solomon is hearing from at least one coach from UGA daily, sometimes more than one coach "hits hime up" he says.  Georgia is in the driver's seat here, and he will be back for the Tennessee game.

— I am hearing UGA will definitely sign another OT in this class... I know they are looking at JUCO guys, and Isaiah Wilson is still high on UGA.  Walker Little is visiting, but like I said in another post this week, I do not see him at Georgia.  I expect a few names to emerge next month.
