a 2018 prospect to know going forward is outside linebacker Tobe Umerah. The Macon (GA) native out of Stratford Academy has only been playing football for two years, but programs across the country are taking notice. Auburn, Duke, Tennessee, and Ole Miss have already offered the three-star prospect, and I've been told Wisconsin is another team that is starting to show strong interest. The Badgers signed defensive back Quintez Cephus last year out of Stratford, and are trying to do the same with Umerah. Look for more offers to come his way shortly. I'm hoping to see how he competes in a camp setting this offseason. He has the chance to be one of the best linebacker prospects in Georgia for the 2018 class.
Another 2018 prospect to know is Colby Wood. I've mentioned this Jefferson running back before, but he is having a great junior season so far after an outstanding sophomore season last year. The 5-foot-10 180-pound back already had 650 yards on the season, and its starting to hear from more schools each week. I've been told that Auburn, Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Virginia have all reached out to Wood recently. Wood admitted to me earlier in the season that he plans to attend multiple UGA games this fall, but he will be visiting Auburn this weekend. He is not high on Georgia's radar at the moment, but recruiting is very fluid. He lives right outside of Athens, so the Bulldogs decide they want to prusue him as an option in 2018, they could be tough to beat. 5-star back Zamir White and 4-star Bainbridge (GA) back Dameon Pierce (Alabama commit) seem to be the top two targets right now for the Bulldogs in 2018.
Few high school games to watch tonight:
Parkview vs. Norcross:
Norcross is having a great season so far starting off 5-0 with impressive wins against Archer, Central Gwinnett, and North Gwinnett. The Blue Devils are ranked as the 7th-best team in Georgia right now, and will face a tough Parkview team on the road. The Panthers are 3-1 with their lone loss coming from Lowndes 35-34. This should be a fun game to watch for fans in Gwinnett County.
Harrison at Sprayberry:
Harrison QB Justin Fields leads his undefeated Hoyas on the road against a strong Sprayberry team. The Yellow Jackets are led by star running back Trey Sermon (Oklahoma commit) and receiver Abay Holmes.
Mill Creek vs. North Gwinnett:
Mill Creek is having another big season, and is ranked as the 3rd best team in Georgia by maxpreps.com. The 5-0 Hawks have been dominant on defense, and are looking to beat the rival Bulldogs at home.
Roswell at Milton:
One of the biggest high school rivalries in Georgia, this game is always fun to watch. Roswell has a much better team and will likely run over Milton tonight on the road, but the atmosphere is always great at this one. This Roswell team can be special, and has a chance to be state champions if they continue to play at the level they have so far this season.null
