Dawg Post Monday Recruiting Update:

Dawg Post takes a look at Georgia's current backs and their breakout games this past Friday. We also give an update on some of the state's top running back prospects in 2018.

It's no secret that the University of Georgia is known for producing some of the best running backs to ever play college football. The Bulldogs have had plenty of talented backs over the years, including two of the best current backs in the NFL. They have been able to run in the past, they have a stable of backs presently, and the future seems incredibly bright as well.

Both Georgia running back commits for the 2017 class had record-breaking performances this past Friday. Langham Creek (TX) star Toneil Carter rushed for 282 yards and five touchdowns against Cyress Springs. The top-ranked back in Texas is a monster pickup for the Bulldogs, and has great speed to go along with a 5-11 190-pound frame. Four-star commit D'Andre Swift had himself a monster night as well, rushing 19 times for 275 yards and seven total touchdowns. Swift is a gifted all-around back to runs hard between the tackles, but has great hands out of the backfield as well. These two have the chance to be the next great Georgia running back combo starting next season.

As for the future, there are plenty of elite backs coming right behind Swift and Carter. Zamir White an an easy five-star talent from North Carolina, and one of the top overall players in the country for 2018. Expect Georgia to go all out until the end.

Bainbridge (GA) back Dameon Pierce, the state's top-ranked junior back, has carried the ball 145 times for 1114 and 13 touchdowns on the season. The current Alabama commit will still be recruited by the Bulldogs as he should. Pierce is the real deal at 5-foot-11 203-pounds. He's a workhorse who can wear down a defense late in ballgames.

Other 2018 backs to know:

Lyn-J Dixon, Taylor County (GA): The state's second-ranked back in 2018, the Dixon is having a phenomial junior season, rushing for 1467 yards and 27 touchdowns so far this season. Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech have all offered the 5-foot-10 177-pound three-star back.

Anthony Grant, Buford (GA): A versatile athlete who also plays linebacker, he has great balance and a physical runner between the tackles. Louisville has offered.

Jalynn Sykes, Rome (GA): 5-foot-10 185-pound back with good speed and tackle breaking ability. Sykes has rushed 94 times for 829 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.

Gino Appleberry, Creekside (GA): Strong runner with good burst. 5-foot-8 183-pounds who has the ability to run over defenders. He had good hands out of the backfield and sometimes play in the slot. Fresno State and Mercer have offered.

Nolan Edmonds, Alpharetta (GA): Strong kid who showed quick feet and balance at the Kirby Smart camp this summer. Cal, Illinois, and Boston College have offered the 5-foot-11 190-pound three star. He has totaled 462 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Christian Malloy, Parkview (GA): Had a great game aginst rival Brookwood last night. Good balance and burst. Put the team on his back at times and showed toughness all night.
