Dawg Post Thursday Recruiting Update:

Dawg Post takes a look at some of the top prospects in the South.

According to his Twitter account, the Bulldogs have offered 2018 defensive back Myles Sims. The Westlake (GA) safety is one of the top defensive back prospects in the state, with offers from Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Oklahoma, among others. The 6-foot-3 173-pound Sims has good size, and great ball skills. He's a little skinny seeing his height, but he has good length and instincts for the position. He is one of many talented defenders for Westlake including Georgia linebacker commit Jaden Hunter, and Clemson commit A.J Terrell.

Callaway (GA) 2019 offensive lineman  Keiondre Jones received offers from LSU and Ole Miss this week. 2020 athlete Michael Robertson, nephew of Cal receiver Demetris Robertson, received an offer from LSU and Auburn. Jones is a future five-star prospect in the 2019 class and already knows as one of the top underclassmen in the country. These are big offers, but there will be more coming his way soon. Roberston is also an elite athlete, and certainly doesn't look or play like a freshman. When you start getting major offers as a freshman, it means you're pretty special. His uncle is playing extremely well for Cal, and Michael should have the same early impact in college in a few years. Both are national prospects already with multiple years left in high school.

2018 defensive back Tre Douglas received an offer from Michigan State this week. In a 2018 class loaded with talented DB's, Douglas might be one of the best. Michigan State, Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Penn State, among others have offered the three-star prospect out of Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. The 6-foot-2 183-pounder is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions in the secondary. He is a name to know for the future.

2017 receiver Abay Holmes out of Sprayberry (GA) might see his recruitment pick up soon. He's an under the radar prospect who is hearing from schools like Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Western Carolina, among others. He plays on both sides of the ball but his home at the next level might be at receiver.

Houston County (GA) receiver Amari Colbert committed to Western Kentucky today. Colbert has has a phenomenal season so far catching 49 passes for 863 yards and 16 touchdowns from Georgia QB commit Jake Fromm.

A 2018 receiver to know is Holy Innocents' Episcol's Mykel Tubbs. The 6-foot-3 184-pound receiver tells me he Georgia Tech, NC State, and Purdue are showing strong interest at the moment. This interest happened just this year as Tubbs was injured all of last season. With a strong end of the season and impressive performances in off-season camps, Tubbs is a prospect who could see his recruitment really pick up in the coming months.
