Dawg Post Friday Update

Dawg Post takes a look at some of the top games in the state.

Lowndes at Colquitt County:

The 8-1 Lowndes Viking  travel to Moultrie to take on the defending state-champion Colquitt County Packers in a huge rivalry game in south Georgia. The Packers started the season slow losing their first four games, but have since won five games in a row. The Packers have 2018 prospect JJ Peterson at linebacker who has totaled 41 tackles on the season. Peterson is a four-star prospect with offers from Georgia, Clemson, Florida, and Arkansas.

McEachern at Marietta:

One of the top matchups in Cobb County, the 7-1 McEachern Indians led by FSU quarterback commit Bailey Hockman make the short drive to Marietta to play quarterback Harrison Bailey and the rest of the Blue Devils. Marietta is a high powered passing offense thanks to the state's leading receiver, sophomore Ramel Keyton, who has 1065 receiving yards on the season. Harrison Bailey is as impressive as a freshman quarterback can be, and received an offer from Georgia earlier this week.

Brookwood at Norcross:

The undefeated Norcross Blue Devils at 8-0 face a talented Brookwood team coming off a huge win against rival Parkview. The Broncos will have their hands full with the Devils, but junior receiver Matthew Hill and senior linebacker Leonard Warner should make this a close game. Offensive lineman Casey Holman is another junior having a great season.

Grayson at Hoover:

The state's top team, the Grayson Rams, continue to play some of the best teams in the country as they travel to Alabama to take on the 8-1 Hoover Buccaneers. The Rams defense, led by elite athletes Deangelo Gibbs and Jamyest Williams, will need to play their best against a strong Hoover offense. The Rams also include three-star linebacker Breon Dixon, four-star offensive lineman Tony Gray, Michigan RB commit Kurt Taylor, and Clemsn QB commit Chase Brice. The Rams also have multiple elite underclassmen led by future five-star linebacker Owen Pappoe in the 2019 class.

Houston County at Northside:

Another big game for the Houston County. The state's second leading passer, UGA QB commit Jake Fromm, leads the 6-2 Bears against rival Northside Warner Robins who are 8-1. Fromm is 197 of 310 on the season for 3206 yards and 35 touchdowns. I'm expecting an electric atmosphere in middle Georgia tonight, as well as a fantastic game.
