Dawg Post Friday Update:

Dawg Post takes a look at some of the top high school games in the state that include major Georgia recruiting targets.

Greater Atlanta Christian vs Pace Academy:

A game featuring some of the top prospects in the country. Scout's number 3 overall prospect Davis Mills will lead his 9-1 Spartans against a talented Pace Academy team led by Georgia commits Trey Blount and Andrew Thomas. Pace embarrassed GAC in the playoffs last year, so the senior quarterback Mills certainly has a chance for revenge. In eight games this season, Mills is 105/150 (.700) for 1651 yards, 25 touchdowns and one interception. The top-ranked quarterback in the country is currently committed to Stanford. The Spartans also have Scout 300 athlete Kyler McMichael as their disposal, one of the top ranked safety prospects in the state. McMichael has been great in the running game this year, carrying it 142 times for 1048 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Pace Academy won the state championship last year, and that will be tough to do again as the Knights finished the regular season at just 6-4. They have the talent to win though, especially with Thomas and 2018 five-star lineman Jamaree Salyer in the trenches. The quarterback play has been inconsistent this year but guys like Trey Blount and Duke commit Deon Jackson are big weapons who can score at any moment. Blount in particular had a fantastic game last year against GAC on this same field.  It will be interesting to see Blount and McMichael got at it throughout the game, as McMichael is the second-ranked safety prospect in Georgia for 2018.

South Gwinnett vs. North Gwinnett:

There is another big time quarterback playing in the Gwinnett area, being North Gwinnett's Cade Fortin. The Texas A&M commit leads his 6-4 Bulldogs down to Snellville to take on the rival South Gwinnett Comets. The comets are led by Georgia target Justin Mascoll at defensive end. Mascoll is a four-star prospect, and the top-ranked defensive end in Georgia for the 2018 class.

McEachern vs. Lassiter:

Interesting matc-hup in Cobb County. The Indians are led by former Bulldog commit Bailey Hockman, who is now committed to Florida State. The Indians are 9-1 on the season, with this only loss coming in a three point defeat to Grayson. He will have a tough task ahead of him going up against a strong Lassiter secondary. The Trojans are led by Cal defensive back commit Tyriq Hardimon, and 2018 four-star safety Derrik Allen, a major UGA target. Allen is the top-ranked safety prospect in Georgia for the 2018 class.

Brookwood vs. West Forsyth:

Major Georgia target Leonard Warner and the Broncos host the 7-3 Wolverines who are coming off a crushing loss to rival South Forsyth. The Broncos have multiple big prospects on the roster including Warner, such as receiver Matthew Hill, running back Dante Black, and tackle Casey Holman. Hill is the second-ranked receiver prospect in Georgia for 2018, he plays all over the field, and could project as a defensive back also at the next level. The Wolverines are led by senior defensive end Eli Huggins, who is committed to Kansas State. Tight end Ben Bresnahan is also an intruiging 2018 prospect at 6-foot-5 220-pounds and a top target in the Wolverine passing game.
