Dawg Post Thursday Recruiting Update:

Yesterday, Georgia offered 2018 defensive back Christopher Smith. The Hapeville Charter (GA) defender has picked up multiple offers this fall, but this one in particular is one he really wanted.

Auburn, Southern Cal, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, among others have already offered, and now the home-state Bulldogs have pulled the trigger offering the state's second-ranked cornerback in the 2018 class. I first noticed Smith last year when scouting William Poole, and the coaches couldn't stop talking about how talented Smith was. After a strong sophomore season, Smith impressed at camps in the off-season, particularly the Kirby Smart camp in July.

At 6-foot-0 165-pounds, he's a little light, but he's long and has shown good balls skills when I've seen him play. Smith is of course teammates and close friends with current Georgia cornerback commit William Poole. Smith visited Georgia earlier this year, and tells me he plans to visit North Carolina, N.C State, and Wake Forest the rest of the season.

Georgia target and Scout 300 receiver Joshua Moore is another 2018 prospect who has been in touch with the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-2 173-pound Moore plays at Yoakum (TX) and is the fifth-ranked receiver prospect in the lone-star state.

"Georgia has been in contact with me pretty crazy lately! I got a total of 20 letters from them yesterday in my mailbox. It means a lot and that just goes so show how much interest they have in me! The coaches I know best are defensive assistant Jay Valai and wide receivers coach James Coley. We talk about the scheme and the offense they run, the game plan for the week and stuff like that."

Moore was able to visit Georgia earlier this summer, and came away impressed.

"I got a chance to look at the facilities, the stadium, and also the academic part of the campus. I feel like I am a very big priority and that I'm the one they want for this 2018 class!

Moore is also considering Ohio State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M. He visited Texas, A&M, and Notre Dame so far this season. When asked if he's trying to visit Athens again soon, he responded with "definitely."
