Dawg Post Wednesday Recruiting Update:

Dawg Post gives the latest on target Markaviest Bryant, as well as other recruiting news around the state.

With 1 week away from Signing Day, it’s time for teams to start closing in on their top uncommitted targets. Head coach Kirby Smart, defensive coordinator Mel Tucker, and outside linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer made an in home visit last night to see defensive end target Markaviest Bryant. The Crisp County (GA) star has held the Bulldogs in high regard for a long time now, and had a great time on his official visit two weeks ago.

Bryant went on an official visit to LSU last weekend, and the Tigers have really caught his attention. Members of the LSU staff, including head coach Ed Orgeron, also had an in home visit with Bryant last night after Georgia did. With only one proven pass rusher in LSU’s 2017 class, early enrollee Justin Thomas, it’s clear the Tigers are coming hard after Bryant in order to secure a second legitimate pass rusher.

Auburn is also still in the mix for the state’s top ranked defensive end. The Tigers have been in the mix the entire way, and he is cousins with Auburn senior defensive lineman Montravious Adams. Bryant visited Auburn twice in September and will take his official visit this weekend. Like LSU, Auburn does not have a pass rusher committed or enrolled in the 2017 class of Bryant’s caliber.

According to Crisp County head coach Shelton Felton, Bryant will be shutting down his recruitment after his official visit to Auburn. He admitted that the final 3 schools are indeed Georgia, LSU, and Auburn. Georgia has been considered the leader in Bryant’s recruitment for months, and still might be, but LSU gave him a lot to think about, and Auburn will have one more chance to impress him this weekend. Bryant was planning to visit Arkansas today, but that visit was cancelled.

Bryant will announce at 11 am. on Signing Day, and the Bulldogs are in a great spot with one week to go.

In other recruiting notes, The Bulldogs offered IMG Academy offensive tackle Daniel Faalele. The 6-foot-9 390-pounder is brand new to football, but also holds offers from Michigan, LSU, Miami, and Arkansas.

The Bulldogs also extended an offer to 2019 athlete Litchfield Ajavon earlier today. The Alexandria (VA) native also holds an offer from Michigan.

Cedar Grove receiver Jadon Haselwood, Stockbridge defensive end Branton Cox, and Hapeville Charter defensive back Christopher Smith were all offered by Oregon in the past 24 hours. All have been offered by Georgia and are major targets moving forward.
