What it means: Latavious Brini’s name emerged late, very late in the recruiting process at UGA. But that only happened after he committed to the Bulldogs in the summer before backing off in the fall.
Long, at 6-2, 180 pounds, Brini gives the Bulldogs size at the cornerback spot - something they’ve been eager to add for some time. A 3-star prospect, Brini still needs to work on his footwork, which is no real surprise for a corner his size.
But if Kirby Smart is interested in building his secondary of the future with bigger, longer defensive backs the second-year head coach got one step closer by getting Brini to come on board late.
Dean Legge saw him live: Never
Chad Simmons says: Brini is a cornerback with size that coaches covet today. He is a legit 6-foot-2 with very long arms, so he covers a lot of ground. He is strong in press coverage and he loves to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is athletic with good quickness and closing speed. Where he can improve is in his footwork and back pedal as he transitions into coverage. He knows how to make a play on the ball and he is a solid tackler for a long corner.
