It didn't take long for Washington (GA) lineman Rashad Cheney to jump on his recent offer from Georgia. The 6-foot-3 250-pound Cheney was offered by Georgia just three days ago, and now the rising junior is committed to his dream school. Cheney wanted to make the commitment public while on an unofficial visit this weekend.
It took a little longer than expected for Cheney to get that first offer, but once he did his recruitment really started to pick up. LSU was the first to offer, then Georgia, and Tennessee offered yesterday. One he got the offer from Georgia, he knew his recruitment would be over shortly.
On film, Cheney shows great athleticism for his size, and shows a true knack for rushing the passer. He has a nice swim move to get off his blocks, and uses his hands well too. He pursues the ball carrier well, and knows how to lay a big hit once he gets there.
Cheney is one of many impressive defensive lineman in the 2019 class from the state of Georgia. He impressed during the True19 game last month, and that performance really helped put him on the map. The Bulldogs have also offered Upson Lee DL Travon Walker, Riverdale DE Dante Walker, Troup County DE King Mwikuta, and Tucker DL Derrick McLendon.
Cheney becomes the 3rd commitment for Georgia in the 2019 class, joining offensive lineman Luke Griffin and DE/OLB Nolan Smith.
