Tentative plans for GA's #1 player

Eric McLendon is the #1 player in the state of Georgia, and he has tentative plans set for next year already.

Eric McLendon is the #1 player in the state of GA by TheInsiders.com, but he is in no hurry to make a decision. He wants to take care of the academic side of things before he decides on his future. Although, his next year may already be planned for him anyway.

"I may be going to Hargrave Military Academy after this season," said McLendon. "I'll spend spring up there and next year up there."

With possibly a year and a half to make a decision, McLendon, predictably, is in no hurry to make that decision.

"I'll wait before I make a commitment to anyone. It's really pretty much the same schools that I'm interested in: Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Florida, and Florida State. I'm going to the Florida State/Miami game later this year, and I plan on going to Georgia/Tennessee too."

Hargrave's head coach Robert Prunty also is the defensive line coach at Hargrave. McLendon may not be ready until the fall of 2005, like a redshirt freshman from this year's class, but if he spends a year and a half with Coach Prunty, he is going to be even scarier when he gets to the campus of his choice.

McLendon has helped lead his Vidalia team to a 1-0-1 record. In his last game, he helped preserve a scoreless tie against Swainsboro in the mud.
