Grayson (GA) defensive back Jalen Alexander is becoming one of the hottest 2019 prospects in the state of Georgia. Many believe he will be one of the top cornerback prospects in the Southeast next year, and he is starting to reel in offers to support that claim. Three SEC schools have offered the talented sophomore, and more are certainly on the way.
“One of my most recent offers was from Missouri.” Alexander said. “I talked with the cornerbacks coach, the head coach, and the defensive coordinator and they let me know I had an offer. We talked about how they like me and seen my life and spoke about me getting up there real soon. I plan on visiting them soon so see what it’s all about. I know last year they had the most interceptions in the SEC.”
The Auburn Tigers noticed his talent early on, and were one of the first schools to extend an offer.
“Linebackers coach Travis Williams called me and we talked on the phone for about 30 minutes about my film and they offered.” Alexander said. “On my visit up there, the last visit I took, I spoke with secondary coach Greg Brown for about an hour about where I’m from and about life. We took a tour of the campus and dorms and got to see a little bit of their practice.”
The South Carolina Gamecocks have jumped into the mix as well after offering earlier this month.
“It was good I spoke to assistant coach Travaris Robinson when they offered and they told me the same thing as the other schools.” Alexander said. “They told me they liked my film and want to get me down there real soon. I have not visited there before so that will be one of the schools I visit next.”
The 5-foot-11 160-pound cornerback is still a little light, but shows great instincts and cover skills. He started multiple games last year for the state-champion Grayson Rams as a sophomore, which is quite the feat considering all the talent on that team. As he continues to develop and get bigger, more schools are likely to pull the trigger.
“Clemson is showing strong interest but I don’t believe they will offer until my junior year. Tennessee, Florida State, and Ohio State are all showing interest as well.” Alexander said.
The Georgia Bulldogs have not offered, but Alexander is on their radar.
