“We hope for a lot,” Smart said. “We have a big list, but you know how it is.”
Smart was indicating that some prospects schedule trips to schools for weekends, but then cancel to stay at home or visit elsewhere instead. That sort of movement from prospects isn’t uncommon in recruiting.
The Bulldogs having one of the later spring games in the South. Most of the SEC has already had this spring games, as have the ACC’s Clemson and Florida State. But Alabama, who the Bulldogs continue to tangle with more and more in the recruiting world, is having it spring game on the same day as UGA. LSU and Tennessee are also holding their spring games on Saturday.
Smart has repeatedly said last season’s full house at Sanford Stadium was a major help in the recruiting efforts of the 2017 class. This season the Bulldogs have not marketed getting 93,000 fans in the stadium, but still expect a big crowd for the important weekend.
“We are expecting a lot (of prospects). We want them to have a good time,” Smart said. “I think it is important they see the energy and atmosphere we have here at UGA. And that’s what they want to come see.”
Scout’s Matt DeBary is reporting that 5-star Pace OL Jamaree Salyer and 5-star Cedar Grove WR Jadon Haselwood are expected to attend G Day - among a long list of other players.
“We are all hands on deck for this one,” Smart said.
