G Day Recruiting Update

Dawg Post gives an update on the latest UGA recruiting news, with added visitors for Georgia's G-day scrimmage.

One of Georgia’s top targets, Stockbridge (GA) defensive lineman Brenton Cox, has decided to push his decision back after accounting he will commit on Sunday. The elite pass rusher is coming off a recent visit to Ohio State, and the Buckeyes have all the momentum in his recruitment. The Bulldogs were long considered the leader, but after his recent Ohio State visit, the longer he waits the better is it for Georgia. Cox will be in Athens this weekend, so they Bulldogs will have the last visit before he decides.

The Georgia staff offers a 2018 quarterback last night in Cammon Cooper. The top passer in Utah holds offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Louisville, among others. The 6-foot-4 200-pound Cooper is ranked as a four-star prospect.

Two major Georgia targets might not wait long to make a commitment. Troup County (GA) outside linebacker King Mwikuta and athlete Kobe Hudson will both be in Athens this weekend, and both are looking to make a commitment before the football season. Mwikuta is a top target in the 2019 class, and Hudson is Georgia’s top overall target in the 2020 class. Alabama is currently on top for both, but Georgia is running second.

Marist (TE) John FitzPAtrick will now be in Athens this weekend after receiving an offer from Georgia earlier this week. North Gwinnett (GA) offensive lineman Warren Ericson also holds a Georgia offer and will be visiting Georgia this weekend.

Oxford (AL) offensive lineman Clay Webb also plans to visit Georgia this weekend. Clay looks like the ideal center, but could be a solid guard at the next level as well. He has dominated at recent camps, and is becoming one of the hottest offensive line recruits in the south. Alabama and Auburn will be tough to beat, but getting Webb on campus is always a start.
